Strides for Peace Supports:
Youth SOAR Pilot Program
This innovative program trains, mentors and supports ten young adults (ages 19-30) from Greater Grand Crossing as delegates to implement weekly sports and arts enrichment activities with 50-75 youth (ages 14-18). Expected results include: strenthening youth resilience to violence, increasing capacity of youth to respond non-violently to the demands and challenges of everyday life, increase youth’s sense of belonging to a positive peer group.

Comer Education Campus has been recognized as one of the most unique youth-serving organizations in the nation. Located in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, the Campus is anchored by the state-of-the-art Gary Comer Youth Center, Gary Comer College Prep, and Gary Comer Middle School.
Programs offered include college readiness, sports and fitness, academic tutoring, performing and visual arts, health and wellness, urban agriculture, culinary arts, media and technology, civic engagement and leadership development, and teen employment.
Working with the Noble Network and many other best-in-class partners, the Campus invests in the life outcomes of over 2,000 youth annually with a dynamic integration of academics, youth enrichment, and college and career preparation.
