Val Warner anchors ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 6 a.m. and the 7 a.m. streaming newscast. A Chicago Emmy Award-winning journalist and host, she also co-hosts Windy City Weekend, where she spotlights the people, places and events that make Chicago unique.
Known for her warmth, humor and engaging interview style, Val has interviewed everyone from Michelle Obama and Robin Roberts to Chance the Rapper, Common and David Muir. She also earned exclusive interviews with Spike Lee and Karla Lee, mother of Tyshawn Lee.
Val has helped ABC 7 earn multiple Chicago Emmy Awards for special programming on topics including bullying, breast cancer and violence prevention, and received an Emmy for her role in Countdown Chicago. She also co-hosts major station events, including the Chicago Pride Parade and the Bud Billiken Parade.
A dedicated community advocate, Val supports numerous Chicago-area charitable organizations and has been recognized for her volunteer service. Originally from Los Angeles, she has called Chicago home since 2005. She and her husband have two children.
