Tahirah A. Moore

Tahirah A. Moore is a government affairs executive, public policy strategist, and nationally recognized leader in gun violence prevention with more than 15 years of experience advancing public safety, violence prevention, and community engagement. Raised in Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses, she brings both lived experience and extensive leadership across government, the private sector, and nonprofit organizations.

Tahirah currently serves as Director of Government Affairs at SoundThinking, where she partners with government leaders and public safety agencies to advance innovative technology solutions that strengthen public safety and community trust. She also serves as Chief New York City Liaison of Community Engagement for Strides for Peace, fostering strategic partnerships and supporting collaborative approaches to reducing gun violence.

Previously, Tahirah served as Senior Advisor for Criminal Justice and Public Safety in the administration of Mayor Bill de Blasio, where she helped oversee New York City’s Crisis Management System and coordinated violence prevention strategies across city agencies and community organizations. She also served as Brooklyn Borough Director, helping secure critical investments in underserved communities. Earlier in her career, she served as a Washington Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives, worked in the U.S. Senate, and held key policy roles in the New York City Council.

Throughout her career, Tahirah has remained committed to advancing equitable public policy, strengthening community-based public safety, and building partnerships that create lasting change. She also serves as Board Chair of DemocraShe, where she helps cultivate the next generation of women leaders through civic engagement, leadership development, and public service.
