Shamara Kelly

Co-Founder of Sisters In Purple

Shamara Kelly is a survivor advocate, community organizer, parent leader, and changemaker dedicated to empowering survivors, strengthening families, and advancing meaningful systems change. As a domestic violence survivor and thriver, she transforms her lived experience into advocacy that centers the voices, safety, and dignity of survivors, children, and parents.

As Co-Founder and Director of Survivor Engagement at Sisters In Purple, and through her work with Voices of Women, Shamara creates spaces for survivors to lead, organize, heal, and influence the policies and systems that impact their lives. Her work has been recognized through the 2023 Advocates of NYC Awards.

Shamara continues to turn lived experience into leadership—building bridges between survivors, communities, and systems while advocating for change that is survivor-led, family-centered, and rooted in dignity, accountability, and empowerment.
