Franklin N. Cosey-Gay, PhD
Executive Director, Urban Health Initiative
Franklin serves as the Executive Director of Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM), where he supports the hospital-based violence intervention program, community relations, and volunteer services teams.
Franklin has over 25 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating school, family, community, and hospital-based interventions. His work emphasizes emerging public health practice examining root causes of violence to address social inequities tied to class and race. Franklin volunteers as co-director for the 1919 Chicago Race Riot Commemoration Project (CRR19). Franklin is an advisor for community engagement with the National Black and Brown Gun Violence Prevention Collective.
