General Surgery Resident Physician, University of Chicago Medicine, Founder & Inaugural Fellow, Surgical Advocacy Fellowship
Anthony Douglas II, MD is a General Surgery Resident Physician at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Douglas has committed his early career to the care of traumatically injured patients, and research in health equity and violence prevention. He is passionate about addressing the socioeconomic and historical factors that cause trauma in urban communities. He founded and was the first to complete the UChicago Surgical Advocacy Fellowship. A 2-year fellowship providing early career surgeons with the tools to become fierce surgical advocates, the first of its kind among surgical residencies. During this fellowship, Dr. Douglas has deliberated with a multitude of lawmakers in Springfield and Washington D.C. on several health care issues. Most recently, he has testified before U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on prescription drug affordability for Americans. Currently, he has turned his attention to the Responsibility in Firearm Legislation Act, reinstating corporate accountability for the firearm industry and incentivizing manufacturers to reduce the harm their products cause.
