Youth Workforce Development
Youth Guidance’s Workforce Development programs ensure that youth from high-risk communities are empowered with the key life skills and resources necessary to make a successful transition into the postsecondary education or employment opportunity of their choice. By participating in our programs, youth experience decreased barriers to success in the workforce and increased confidence in their professional identity and career goals. This year, we will serve over 200 youth from across Chicago.
For more than 25 years, our programs have helped youth focus on the development of current and future career interests. Our programs pair high student students and recent high school graduates with with Career Specialists who guides them through career exploration, job readiness skills training, and postsecondary transition. Youth participate in special activities such job shadowing, employer site visits, and job readiness boot camps.
Youth Guidance has established partnerships with college readiness organizations and workforce training programs to increase youth’s access and connection to progressive postsecondary pathways. Youth Guidance also maintains its own employer relationships and places youth into summer internships and year-round job opportunities.
